No kissing. No touching. And definitely no falling in love…
Armed with her besties, an embarrassing number of shots, and her list of 10 Wild Things To Do Before Adulthood, recent grad Cameron Lawson is partying it up before she starts her dream job at New York’s biggest ad agency. Her last task? Hook up with a random guy. And while it’s so not her style, the super-sexy guy sitting next to her is definitely game. No names. No details.
At least, that was the plan.
On her first day of work, Cameron discovers her hook-up is none other than Aidan Truitt—her new boss’s boss. Talk about failing the “no fraternizing with coworkers” policy on an epic level. Especially when Aidan makes it clear their one night was only the beginning. Falling for him could cost her everything, but sometimes the only way to get what you want is by breaking a few rules…

This was a cute, fun read about advertising, love, life and other disasters. Cameron is a driven, competitive kind of girl who lives mostly inside the lines, but when her best mates challenge her to hook up with a random guy (though they defined “hook up” as a kiss) Cameron is determined not to be the one to lose – even if kissing strangers and one-night-stands are not her usual style.
Until she wakes up next to the hot stranger she flirted with the night before. And then discovers he’s her new boss’s boss.
As I said, this is a fun office romance tale, combining the angst of wanting someone Cameron knows she shouldn’t have with the frisson of getting caught. It’s told entirely from Cam’s POV, but we do get to see enough of Aidan to be able to read his emotions fairly well. He’s great. Creative, funny, driven and successful, but with a number of issues regarding relationships. Cam and he make a very good team, though she’s more about commitment and family than he is. I liked that even though they’re coming at things from different sides, they do find common ground, but they also talk things through and aren’t afraid to argue.
There are moments of real sweetness scattered throughout as well – not least the stair-walking excursions – and the chemistry between the two of them is both believable and pleasantly warm. Sure, there were times when I wanted Aidan to just let go a bit, and I’m never a fan of a woman sticking with a man in the hopes she can change his mind – but at least Cam was aware of what she was thinking and wasn’t too impressed with herself either.
Overall this is sweet and enjoyable, an easy read with plenty of fun moments and a lovely romance at its heart. Even though I could see where things were heading from a fairly long way out, I still really enjoyed how things developed and I liked the relaxed ending that didn’t rush any of its fences, letting everything unwind at its own pace. If you’re looking for something quick and light, with a hint of sneaking around and a couple who work really well together, then you should give this a try.
