Welcome back to Jewell Cove, where this holiday season, there happens to be no room at the inn…
When a December Nor’easter roars up the eastern seaboard, Jewell Cove cop Todd Ricker spends his day off being a Good Samaritan to stranded holiday travelers. But when the roads close and Todd can’t make his way home, he discovers that the Evergreen Inn is full up. Until another Good Samaritan opens her doors and offers him a place to stay…
Lainey Price is not looking forward to Christmas, but just because she’s not filled with the holiday spirit doesn’t mean she’s going to turn Todd out into the stormy night. Even if it means offering the handsome police officer the couch in her tiny cottage. But when the weather takes a turn for the worse, the two are snowed in for a wintry evening by the fire. With Christmas only a few days away, can Todd convince Lainey to open her heart to the season…and love?

This is a cute little Christmas read offering up a sweet romance that makes for a perfect quick escape over the winter months. Lainey used to love Christmas, until her fiancé dumped her and their plans for a Christmas wedding just a few days before the big day. Now all the festivities just remind her of cancelling preparations and taking back her dress. So it’s no wonder she’s not feeling too jolly as the season draws in. However, when her inn gets unexpectedly busy in a snow storm she has no choice but to invite local cop, Todd, into her private cottage to sleep on the sofa.
Todd is a good guy who has always thought Lainey was beautiful, yet they’ve never dated. However, after the snow storm and a heated kiss, he’s starting to change his mind. Lainey says she’s not interested in anything romantic, but Todd isn’t known for giving up too easily. He’s a good guy, though, and a patient one who’s willing to show off his best sides to gain Lainey’s attention. If it also means bringing back the sparkle to Lainey’s Christmas, then that’s a bonus he’s not going to pass up.
With a couple of nice characters and a sweetly predictable plot, this is an easy read for when the nights are long and the temperatures are low. Lainey has a few understandable issues regarding relationships, though her knee-jerk reactions sometimes feel a little overdone. Still, overall this is cute and feel-good, and a sweet addition to the Jewell Cove series. Perfect for when you need something utterly undemanding with a sprinkle of festive light.
