Lately, things have been a little weird for Sloane Barrett—late night crank calls, disturbing images inher inbox, her tires slashed. She tries not to let it bother her. She tries to pretend everything is ok. Then someone breaks into her house and attacks her…and Sloane realizes she needs professional help. Tall, gorgeous and overwhelmingly intense help.
But Sloane knows all too well just how much trouble intense guys can be.
Security Specialist Ciaran Ross’s priority is to ensure Sloane is safe. His gut tells him she’s in danger, but his feelings for her are pulling his focus. Ciaran has already made the mistake of falling for a client, and the results were disastrous. He won’t risk it again. He can’t. But running from love is the surest way to get Sloane killed…

This is a book about attraction. Ciaran is hugely attracted to Sloane from the moment he meets her, and it is most definitely mutual. However, Sloane’s being stalked and the attacks are escalating, from dropped calls and horrible emails to kidnapping attempts. She needs protection. Luckily for her, Ciaran is the man for the job.
Except it’s not quite as simple as that, because Sloane’s ex was a verbal abuser and the last thing she needs in her life is a man telling her how to behave for her own good. Even if it might literally save her life. And especially if she finds him as sexy as Ciaran. Likewise, the last thing Ciaran needs is to be attracted to the body he’s guarding. He’s been down that road before and it didn’t end well, leaving him emotionally as well as physically scarred.
So prepare for much lusting over each other, plenty of angst about self-esteem and past issues, and you will have this book in a nutshell. However, I also really enjoyed it and the stalker aspect definitely ups the suspense. If you’re looking for a sultry read with a heroine regaining her confidence and armed with curves she refuses to feel ashamed of, and a hero who might be damaged but is also determined, then this book definitely delivers that. I look forward to seeing where this series heads next.
