Revenge is supposed to be sweet…
Caitlin Monroe is ready to confront her past. Years ago, her father ditched her mother for the NBA, leaving her pregnant and alone. Now he’s a big-shot coach, and Caitlin’s ready to take the so-called “family man” down. But on her way to the team gala, her car dies, and it’s her father’s sexy new star player who comes to her rescue.
Brady Hudson wants nothing more than to put his past behind him and concentrate on winning the championship for his new team. But when he finds himself the recipient of unwanted attention—attention that could destroy his career—he introduces the beautiful woman he saved on the side of the road as his “girlfriend.”
Brady needs to focus on his job. And Caitlin isn’t about to date an athlete whose career is riding on her father—though he is a convenient way to get the dirt she needs. But sometimes love has other ideas, and it’s not long before their pretend relationship becomes a liability neither can resist…

This was a fun, easy read with plenty of heat and high on the enjoyment factor, mixing a bit of sport with a touch of revenge. Caitlin is a woman on a mission – to humiliate the man who abandoned her mother without looking back, leaving her to raise twins alone – while Brady is trying to be the best in a team that isn’t accepting him too easily. They’re a fun couple with plenty on their mind and I loved reading about them.
With so many distractions going on, it’s easy to see how the fake relationship slowly slips into real. These two have so much chemistry together and get on really well that it was easy to believe their friendship and deepening feelings, despite how short a time they’d known each other.
Of course nothing is allowed to be quite that straightforward, since Caitlin has her bitter secret and Brady is struggling to adjust to his new move. I liked how there was room for another side to each story to come through, providing confusion and deep thought amongst everything else.
If I’m honest there were a few things I would have liked to have seen more of – Brady’s interactions with his team and more about that incident in particular – but I have a feeling some things (how Caitlin’s brother is dealing with everything and perhaps what’s really going on with Elise) will come out in future books. At least I hope so.
In the meantime, if you’re looking for something easy and enjoyable, this certainly fits the bill. I liked the characters, I liked the wider circle of friends and the set up at both the radio station and the basketball team, leaving me wanting to know a lot more about both. Luckily I can read the first book (Tell Me Something Good) while I wait for the next one.
