What happens on Valentine’s Night, stays on Valentine’s Night… That’s the rule.

After a trip home to bury his father, US photographer in London Caleb Landry finds himself stranded in a Soho bar full of boozy women brooding his way through his least favourite night of the year.

But when college art teacher Rosie Smith tries out the cheesiest pick-up line ever on him, Cal becomes captivated by this good girl with a filthy mind – especially when he discovers she has a V-Day allergy of her own. So he dares her to one smokin’ hot Valentine’s night hook-up with no questions asked, satisfaction guaranteed…

But when Valentine’s Night turns into the morning after, suddenly Rosie’s asking questions she shouldn’t, and putting Cal in danger of breaking his number one rule.

This was just the sort of fun, sexy read that I’ve come to expect from Heidi Rice. Set in London, Rosie is a normal kind of woman who has the worst luck in relationships. Possibly because she’s always trying to form connections and make something good out of a bunch of no-hope losers. Which is why her best friends practically dare her to have a no-strings, one night fling with a handsome stranger. A little drunk and a lot fed up with her dating history, Rosie goes for it – and ends up with Cal.

Cal has a few issues about women and relationships, dating back to his childhood and his mother, but when Rosie approaches him in the bar he thinks, why not? But things are not that straight forward between them, especially when their one night is more of a next day kind of thing, there’s an art class in need of a model, some sexy photos to be taken and plenty of hangups to get caught on.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s easy and fluffy and predictable and delicious. Rosie is sweet and normal, Cal is brooding and sexy, there’s some art to be inspired by, a bit of history to tangle things up and an ending that made me happy. A perfect little pick me up.

Daring the Bad Boy is out February 4th!
