A temporary agreement neither could keep…

Brainy, organized Sophie Birch is no beach bunny. In fact, she’s totally out of her element among the sun-bronzed crowd at a film festival in beautiful White Strand Cove. When a surf lesson introduces her to Zane Hollander, suddenly she’s up close and personal with the world’s sexiest surf star. But what can a great-looking, experienced athlete possibly see in a klutzy out-of-towner who’s never set foot in the ocean?

Zane Hollander’s playboy reputation has never been a problem…until recently. Now his management team wants him on his best behavior to entice a meaningful new sponsor. Sophie Birch is the perfect girl to help reform his image. She’s genuine and respected—and their relationship is purely fictional. But the more Sophie blooms under the beachy sun, the more Zane knows he’ll just break her heart. Because nothing’s more important to Zane than following the tide.

I loved reading this book. Everything about it made me smile and feel good. It is fluffy, but in the best possible ways. Zane is the popular playboy with a heart, Sophie is the shy brainiac testing her wings for the first time, all set against a beautiful beach backdrop. It’s pure escapism at its very best.

I really liked Sophie. She can be a little clumsy, she is very shy, and being a red head she blushes very easily. She’s gawky and innocent and very, very smart, but she’s also recently decided to change her life. Where once she was a top brain researcher, now she’s a party planner, because she wants to make people smile. I have to admit this was the one thing that didn’t really add up for me. Her ultimate goal is to work for a charity, because she wants to give something back – like brain research wouldn’t have done that. More than that, though, as someone very shy myself, I found the idea of her wanting to go out and organise parties – talking to lots of people in the process – a strange choice for a super shy girl.

However, I didn’t mind because I loved the way Sophie flourishes throughout this book. She doesn’t change, she just gains in confidence. Which has rather a lot to do with Zane.

Ah, Zane, the sexy surfer. He’s hot and talented, but also sweet and kind to his fans, not to mention seriously hung up about his father. I loved how Sophie gradually got under his skin without even trying. The pair of them just get along really well, and I loved how quickly he came to admire and value her, not to mention all the different ways he thought she was beautiful. It’s so lovely.

The romance itself unfurls sweetly and slowly for most of the book and I loved the way the chemistry steadily built between them. There are real, solid reasons behind both of their feelings and even though they develop quickly, they do so with good reason and nothing about this book feels rushed in anyway. Not that this is all chaste and sweet, because things do heat up between them, but it worked perfectly with the pace.

So, if you’re looking for a sweet and sexy romance that will sweep you off your feet and carry you off to sun-kissed beaches, this will do that for you. The characters are well-rounded and likeable, the romance is beautiful and the whole experience was one I really enjoyed.
